I have Pronto Edit 2.0, installed on Win 2K Server with the latest service packs. When I attempt to run it I get procedure entry point [email protected]@Z could not be located in MSVCRT.dll.

How can I solve this? I've tried uninstall and reinstall...

When you uninstall, remove all registry entries for ProntoEdit and delete Pronto.ini from the Windows directory.

Did you retry re-booting?

PE 2 works fine on W2K professional. There is some software around that won't run properly on W2K Server.

Mark,

I believe that your original MSVCRT.dll was overwritten by a version not compatible with Prontoedit. Search your drive for other versions. I seem to recall a number of threads suggesting a reinstall of Internet Explorer to solve this problem.

Opps! Just remembered the other threads were refering to a different dll that caused a font problem. Forget the reinstall of IE!

ProntoEdit v2

I feel rather cheated ...

I bought the Pronto 2mb after having read the review on this web-site - I failed to realise that (as usual) in the UK we would pay more than in the USA and get palmed off with an inferior version of the remote (RU940) which doesn't have the infra-red database installed and is also not supplied with ProntoEdit v2 - so, basically, I paid about £90 more an extra 1mb - seems a bit of a con when you can now buy another 128mb of ram for the pc for that kind of money!

If ProntoEdit v2 is available (and I guess it is because you all seem to be having problems with it!) can anyone tell me where I can get a copy?
Is it better than v1.05?

Please e-mail me at [email protected]
as I don't always get a chance to check this site.

Thanks,

Nick

For the moment V2 comes with the TSU20000, the rumor was that it will be made available today for the rest of us. The current version (?) that comes on the CD does not have the download portion and is useless for those without the TSU2000. The version that will be public should work on TS1000, RU890, RU940 and obviously TSU2000, but the DB will still only be available on the TSU2000. The DB is not as important ass it might first seem, since there are many components in the file section. If you don't find an exact match try ones that are near to what you need, IR codes tend to be reused by a manufacturer.
