When I am programming buttons in ProntoEdit the IRLearn function appears to be working to assign codes but when I disconnect and attempt to control components with these buttons nothing happens. If I then use the Pronto itself to reassign the same codes to the buttons, it works.

Any idea why this might be the case? I would rather use ProntoEdit but I wasted a lot of time on this only to have to relearn the IRcodes using the normal method.

The normal method is the recomended method. Learning through ProntoEdit has proven to not be as reliable and created crashing situations in PE 2.0. You will find that the concensous is to use the remote to learn with.

Just create a page(s) with all the buttons you want to learn and download it to to Pronto. Because the buttons have no function they will not show up in normal use but when you enter the "Learn" mode they will all be visable. Do all your learning and then upload the ccf to Pronto Edit and you've just saved yourself the heart ache of learning through ProntoEdit directly!!!!

Thanks for the help, and the rapid response. I have ended up using the second method although it was news to me that the unprogrammed buttons appeared in Learn mode. I was previously assigning random codes to them so they would appear on the Pronto in any mode. Point is, I thought I was doing something wrong when the IRLearn issue is just a known quirk (bug).

The biggest weakness so far on this thing is the documentation and the quality of the software. I get the impression that I'm using an early beta version even though it's been around for 2 years+. It did take a while to get the hang of developing my own menu structure. Turns out to be very easy but the manual didn't help much.
