Hi all!
I got a TSU-2000 a few days ago, I didn't do much useful work this week! :)
Well in the way of programming my Pronto (using PE 2.0), but ran into trouble with Harman-Kardon & Hitachi equipment. I would like to experiment with other codes, so I downloaded GenIRDB. That seems to work fine, I obtain a working database (in MS Access, that is).
The trouble is that I can't seem to acess the codes in the database from ProntoEdit! No matter what's in there, it won't show up in PE. Yet PE won't start if the file is missing, so I know PE is not using some other, hidden, elusive copy of RCIR.MDB.
Any clues, anyone? This has been driving me nuts for several hours, now... =8^((..

I'm taking a stab at this one. I've never seen what you are talking about. I'd venture a guess that in the Access database there would be tables that correspond to different equipment (TV's, VCR's, etc). Perhaps there are hex codes in those tables that can be cut then pasted into ProntoEdit.
By the way, where did you get GenIRDB? Is that from the files section of this site? I'll have to take a look at that. Good Luck.

Yup, got it from this site, [Link: remotecentral.com]I could (and did) generate the hex strings myself, it's not that complicated. But I wanted to include a large number of codes in a database to ease the pain of testing. But if that does not work, I think I'll intercept comm between the computer and Pronto to find out how to ask Pronto to test an IR code, and then use my own software to try sequences of codes. Shame on all manufacturers that won't list or implement discrete codes. And I especially mean Harman-Kardon; they lost a customer with their attitude.

On the original Pronto, there was no internal DB (1)(except for some Philips/Marantz codes), On Prontoedit they added a DB that came empty (except for the above mentioned codes) but that installers could use to enter their equipment. This was done to save the installer from having to relearn the codes every time. On the 2000 there is a built in DB (2), so that feature (1) was discontinued. The DB (1) was a place to put IR codes, and they existed only on the PC, to use them they had to be imported into a CCF.

Thanks Anthony. If I follow you right, PE's import mechanism from the PC DB was disabled, or am I missing something?
And then, why disable the feature? It certainly did no harm! Especially considering the "extensiveness" of the Pronto's built-in DB!!! I don't think there's a single device in my setup for which I didn't have to learn the codes (except the RCA dish receiver).

The old "IRDB" feature, which GenIRDB uses, was simply a database of real hex codes sorted by brand and device. The DB the TSU2000 uses consists merely of references to codes stored on the TSU2000. With the introduction of the new "DB", the old "IRDB" was dropped.
However, not completely so: the old database file is still installed, so one can believe that Philips merely forgot to provide access to it, or, they discontinued it but forgot to remove all files.
