I have started having problems with the Fonts in my Alias menu.

When I try and make an 'Alias', I can see all the buttons, and those that are 'text' are fine.. But any which are symbols are meaningless.

It wasn't always like this.. I haev to do some tests to see if its CCF specific or a problem with my PC..

But I wondered if anyone has seen this before?

I have been using Pronto and Prontoedit for the first time this weekend and it looked strange to me too. Symbols are replaced by other characters and only through trial and error you get the right one. I tried Prontoedit on three different pc's and it's all the same.

I use Netscape.. But, I only noticed this after I had upgraded to Win98SE, which I understand uses IE5

I have read a number of posts here about IE5, 5.01 and 5.5, but at no point does it specifically say that this issue is resolved.

I don't want to take the 2 hours it takes to upgrade to IE5.01 if its not going to do any good, so am looking for some concerete info about this problem.

I experience the same corrupt font problem when trying to alias in Win98SE also. I've upgraded to the latest IE (5.5 something) and it didn't seem to help. I don't have this problem on my Win2000 machine though. I have yet to find or read about any work arounds either.

Can you be more specific in what you replaced and where you got the file from?
Thanks

Sorry.. I thought it was common knowledge.

- Download the COMCTL32.DLL file from [Link: geocities.com] (Thanks to Brandon B)

- Unzip it.

- Boot in DOS mode

- Rename c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\COMCTL32.DLL to COMCTL32.OLD (just so you have a backup)

- Copy the new COMCTL32.DLL to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

- Reboot

To my surprise, Alias fonts were now restored.
