I know this is a windows question and not a remote control question but perhaps someone could help me.

I have recently updated my system from win95 to winME. When I did it my computer no longer recognizes the rc5000i.

To make sure, I ran the setup software on my laptop and it recognized the remote control fine so I know it is my computer and not the remote control.

I also clicked through the device manager and looked for conflicts but it shows nothing is assigned to com1 and there are no conflicts.

Any ideas? Thanks.

What error messages does Pronto Edit show (when you click Details)?

None, it is a blank.

Well, if your details box is blank, sounds like your com ports aren't configured correctly at all... do the com ports show up in Device Manager?

Com2 does but not Com1 and there is both. I have tried to hook the RC5000i thru both.

It seems ProntoEdit pretty much needs to operate on Com 1. You'll need to get Windows to see Com 1. Why it's not could be due to many many things... there's a section in the FAQ that may (or may not) help.

Okay, thanks. I'll work from there.

Daniel,

Thanks for your help today. I made some random changes in CMOS and it worked. Thanks.

I will now try to get the ccf's I donwloaded working. I saw somewhere when I was surfing your site that said "what to do with these ccf's". But I haven't been able to find it again.
