Has any tested the Pronto Edit 2.0 codes for Toshiba? I am curious to see if the Television Discretes and the DVD discretes work.

There are no Toshiba discrete codes... so those two separate entries probably reference the same code.

Thank you Daniel. Once again my hopes are dashed.

Not sure if this would be the right place to put this...

I own a Toshiba TW40F80. I also own an Expressvu Satellite dish. I have programmed the Expressvu remote with the code for the Toshiba. Every function works the television except for the "Recall" button.

When I press "Recall" the Toshiba toggles the surround sound mode to off or on. This function is NOT available on the original TV remote. The only way to toggle the surround sound on the original remote is to go through the on-screen menu system. (about 4 or 5 button presses)

Is this a "discrete code" for this TV?

Are there hopes for more h"hidden" functions like this?

"Discrete codes" are codes that do one thing only -- say turn the surround field "off" but not "on". You've got an "unused" code.

I have a Todhiba SD 1600 DVD player. Play IR signal works as a discrete "On". The code is below.
0000 006c 0022 0002 0156 00ab 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 0015 0015 0015 0016 0040 0015 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 0040 0015 0040 0016 0015 0015 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 0015 0015 0015 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0015 0040 0016 05f4 0156 0056 0015 0e60

Not exactly a discrete code either, since it'll also start the player playing. But it's one that folks often use as a workaround.

I have a toshiba DVD and there are a couple of work arounds for the descretes. I am using #1 and am quite happy with it. When I tested some ccf (in the downloads area) I came across the power-on eject code. I don't use it because I don't want the tray to hit my HT Cab door. I have to admit that sometimes it's annoying that my "all power off" macro causes my toshiba to beep 2x, but what can you do. I bought it before I was aware of what discrete codes offer.

1.
ON: use a macro that has play then stop code
OFF: use a macro that has play then power code

2.
There is a code for power-on eject which turns the power on and opens the tray if the power is off. If the power is on, it does nothing.

so...
ON: use the power-on eject code
Off: macro with power-on eject then power code

Bryan,
I'm still learning this stuff so please bear with me.
Option 1. I assume that pressing play on the remote will turn the DVD player on and begin playing the DVD. Is that correct? I ask because I don't think the play button on my SD6200 remote turns the DVD player on. I'll have to test it.

I have the discreet "On" command for the Toshiba 5109 & 6200 DVD players, I have not tried them on anything else.
On:
0000 006d 0022 0002 0156 00ab 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 05ee 0156 0055 0016 0e49

This is the open/close toggle for the same:
0000 006d 0028 0000 0156 00ab 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 003f 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 05ef 0156 0055 0016 0e4c 0156 0055 0016 0e4b 0156 0055 0016 00ab

Hope it helps.

I have read here (and elsewhere) that Toshiba products do not allow for discrete codes. Yet, I have downloaded a CCF for my Toshiba TW65H80 RPTV and saw to my surprise a discrete code for getting into the Setup Menu (that normally requires one to hit the menu button, then cycle through whatever number of positions would take it to Setup). I tested it and it really works.

In addition, the CCF included a 'CC ON' code, that takes it to the C. Caption menu, then advances the choice by one. While not a truly discrete code, it is still a single code that does what normally requires multiple key strokes.

I wonder if Toshiba doesn't have other discrete codes, that they are not willing to divulge. I have been using the input selection workaround for quite a while, and the discrete for Setup Menu was also very good, but i wish I could find discrete codes for ON and OFF. I can;t think of any wporkaround for these.

You can't exactly think of "discrete codes" as a have-or-have-not situation. It's not like it's "all toggle" or "all discrete". An example: VCR "play" and "stop" buttons usually do nothing but "play" and "stop". Are these "discrete codes"? Technically, yes. Are these what we consider to be discrete codes? No.

The term "discrete code" is used in reference to items that, on a whole in the marketplace, usually do not have such specific codes. They are also codes that typically don't show up on original remote controls. That includes specific power codes, inputs, soundfields, display modes, and other various advanced functions.

The "setup menu" code you post above would be considered a true discrete code. However, just because it has such a code doesn't mean that Toshiba's finally caught on to the whole discrete idea, or that other possibly more useful codes will suddenly start appearing. It just means they have a code that does one thing.

I'm reminded of the Toshiba DVD "on and eject" code. Discrete? Sort of: it does two things, one of them potentially annoying. If they had a code that did nothing but "power on", then we'd be rolling! :-)

I have a 2109 DVD player and up until yesterday when I lost all the programming for my RC5000, I had discrete codes for FF and RW on the player which definately are not on the original remote (you have to hold down the skip buttons!!!) So if anyone has them, PLEASE let me know!!!
