I just purchased the TS1000 and have read the manual. I understand the basics of programming/using the remote (mainly how to use the remote's interface, navigation, and simple programing thru learning from other remote controls). But I have hit a road block about using the real capability of this remote. I am a little embarrassed about posting this, but I cannot seem to get the basics for doing the real programing of the remote or just getting started on how to do this. I have downloaded PE (ver. 1.03), but I can't seem to get very far on how to use this once I have it on my computer (and I am not even sure I have the latest version). I realize this might be a general question, but can anyone give me a few tips just to get started so I can get a feel for programming this remote. I guess to be more specific, I really want to have a screen in which I will use for my Cable system; and the screen will have certain tabs for say "sports", and on that screen will be an ESPN or EPSN2 logo, where I just tap the button and my cable box goes to ESPN, etc. If anyone can just give me maybe some start-up ideas, that would help alliviate some frustation. Pls help...

1.03 is quite old. You should download 1.05.

Start by downloading and reading both the ProntoEdit and RC5000 Setup manuals.

Read the FAQ on this site.

Then download a couple of CCFs and look at how they work.

The best way to learn is to download other people's ccf files and play around with them. Peter has a very good point about the setup manuals. The ProntoEdit software user manual can be found on their web site under User Guides.
