After upgrading to latest ver. whenever I press any hard button it turns on my LCD screen and backlight. Is this a new feature? It never did that before.

I assume you are using RC5000 setup. The answer is yes.

I sure hope they make this a user selectable option in future versions of the firmware. That's one reason I haven't upgraded to the latest firmware...

Mine does not do this, if the lights are off, they stay off (even when I press a button). I have a TSU-2000, and I'm wondering if there is a way to change that. I would like mine to turn on the lights when i tough the screen or a hard button.

thanks in advance!

In the new 2000 the manual says to click the "LEVEL" in SETUP all the way to the left BUT moving it all the way to the RIGHT will make the light to come on all the time.

It only seems to be the Marantz remote that turns on each time a hard button is pressed. Apparantly SOMEONE (you know who you are!) actually asked for that feature... but personally I find it nothing but an annoyance.
