Would sopmeone explain the purpose of all the logos ...HBO, Showtime etc.? I'm sure there's a way to touch the logo and have your Satellite go to that channel...However I can't get the unit to accept a 3 digit channel number....Can someone explain how to go about doing that? I appreciate any help u can be.

This is in the FAQ.

You can only have one IR Code stored in an action. Simplest thing to do is to set up separate buttons for each button on your remote, and learn each button.

Then if Showtime is on channel 122, set up the actions on the Showtime button to be aliases to the buttons previously learned (with delays between each). The action list should then be smoething like:

[B] learned 1
[D] 0.1
[B] learned 2
[D] 0.1
[B] learned 2

(The actual names will be different.)

Delays depend on eqipment, some need longer others don't need one.
if it seems to skip some i.e. channel 123 becomes 13 then you need a longer delay

I guess I don't completely understand aliases....I tried this but doesn't seem to be working. I also looked for this in FAQ but couldn't locate. DOn't mean to be stupid here...just haven't tried to dig this deep and manual isn't much help to me.
If anyone can be of further help...step by step...I would appreciate it.

Lets see. A aliases is a pointer to another button in your Pronto file. Lets say you want to have a button that will turn your TV on from several different screens on your pronto. You could add a button to each screen with the learned TV ON code in each one. This will work but it uses your memory up quicker since you have the same code learned in several different places. Now lets say you have one button in your pronto file with the learned TV code. The remaining buttons that you need the code for can be "aliased" to the one button that has the learned code. I have a hidden panel in each of my devices names IR codes. I have all of my learned codes in this panel and then aliase all of my actual buttons to these learned codes. In the case of using the channel logos you would put the logo in a panel (Drag it from the gallery). Click on the button to bring up it property sheet. Then you would click the aliases button and navigate to where you stored your codes (0-9 channel buttons in the case). Click on the number you want to add and repeat until the complete channel number is in the panel. You may want to add a delay between each number. Depending on your tuner it may need a little time to digest the number coming from the Pronto. Basiclly you have created a macro that send several codes in succesion. Hope this helps. Sorry for being so long but I'm at work and not much else to do.

Just got my Pronto today and here is what I did:

1. goto the device (eg probably DSS for you) where you want the logo and RIGHT click add panel.
2. in the new panel RIGHT click add button
3. DOUBLE click new button and goto ICONS. Double click each box and add the logo. I used buttons from the pronto site which had "selected and unselected icons" Just add to ALL 4 boxes with corresponding types. Which means 2 boxes will be the same type.
4. goto ACTION and click "set IR."
Click devices and pick desired device (DBS in your case.)
Then click Brand (the brand of your DBS eg Sony)
Now it'll pull up the FUNCTION codes for your box.

If satellite channel is for example 100:
Now click functions: "digit 1" Hit OK
Click set IR again : and add second number eg- "digit 0"
Add third number.
Then go back and add "enter" at the end of it all.
This should get you going. I didn't even have to input anything for the "alias" part. I think because you pick your exact device (eg-Sony DBS) it automatically works.

This scheme should work for most devices to add a logo.

Good Luck
Peter

PeterN,

Your example for entering 100 has you learning each of the 3 digits.

This is not a good way to set up your Pronto for two reasons:

- you spend a lot of time learning the same codes over and over again
- you are using up memory at a very fast rate

You should just learn the 10 digits once only (on 10 different buttons, probably in another panel or device). Then when you set up your channels, use aliases to refer back to the 10 codes you previously set up.
