I am beginning to think I have a defective unit! First I can't delete any devices on the home page and now I have another problem. Whenever I am on the home page and I change from one device to the tv device icon, my television will either cut off or come on, depending on its original status before I switch to the tv icon. I am working strictly with the Pronto preprogramming andlearning functions and have not yet advanced to the Prontoedit download.
This most be sometype of glitch in the unit!

Rick,

I don't think it's defective. The Pronto arrives out of the box with some pre-programmed codes that are issued when you select a new device. These codes are the Philips RC5 codes for selecting the input on a Philips surround sound receiver. It sounds like the code also happens to affect your tv.

You might want to give me a call, I think you are missing a key step when you try to delete a device...

You can call me now at 800-247-7001.

Eric, I do appreciate you offering to help by phone and I still might need to call you but let me give you an update! I am able to delete now and have really advanced since my original thread and you were right I must have been missing a key step. I think I found my mistake
when I started to label, learn etc. The problem I was having with my Hitachi television has not gone away through! Whenever I go from any device to the television icon, the televison will cut off and if was orginally off, it will turn on. Very consistant, never fails. Is this possibly the remote or the television? Is there any way to fix this? Thanks!

You need to edit the actions of the icon that takes you from the home page to the TV. I got a TSU 2000 for Xmas and had the same problem. For some reason the program is written to do just that. The problem lies in the fact that the code that was assigned to the "TV" button to take you to the TV page is a toggle button. Ie the same signal turns on what is off and off what is on. I found a descrete on and descrete off code for my Sony TV and made that problem go away.
If you think about it is desirable to have the TV come on when you select the TV page--you just need to assign a descrete on to that icon.

The pronto is a really neat device, and while it appears kind of confusing at first it all starts to make sense if you browse stuff on this sight and keep playing with it. The power to create a way to control everything the way you want is at your fingertips. Mine, via X-10 mdules is turning on/off my gas fireplace as I surf the DSS channels.

Rick, you will find it a lot easier if you advance to ProntoEdit.

D. Cooper how do you edit the actions of the icon that takes you to the television. I am perfectly happy with everything else. Why does this only happen to my television? When I go back and forth to my dvd or vcr they don't cut on and off. Only the television!

What brand is it? Philips, Marantz, something somewhat high-end that may use RC5/6 codes?

Just thought I'd chime in on this one... it's interesting: I just got the 2000 2 days ago and I've had the exact same problems. At first, I couldn't delete anything on my home page, and I could swear I was doing everything the book said. Then on the 2nd day, it just worked! (very weird)
My TV (a Mitsubishi RPTV - WS65907) also toggles on or off whenever I select it as the active device. As the book describes it, it sounds like a "device action." Unfortunately, the book tells you how to assign them, but not how to unassign them.
I'm sure it would be easy (maybe I assume too much!), if I was using Prontoedit, but so far, I can't get it to upload or download from the Pronto. That's a whole other can of worms, and rather than bury that problem in this thread, I think I'll post it as a new one.
This thing'll be great once I get it working for me!

Daniel my television is a 35" Hitachi! With problems in the basic controller I am afraid to go to Protoedit!

Hello guys,
Just got my pronto for Christmas. Tell you no lies, I've spent over 100 hrs trying to crack the logic of this gadget from hell. I love it, I hate it. I think the problem you guys mentioned will be solved by going to the Properties panel under TV under Devices . Double click on it and you should see something like "[C]UDB"
Double click again and under the Function box you might have "Power on" selected. Every time programs "hoover" over the TV it goes on and off. Select something else instead like "Device Selection" or simply delete that particular action.
I am having nightmares with my little friend. I think illiterate children in the mountains of Nicaragua could write a better Manual than Philips. Enough said.

Rick: Since you're still not using ProntoEdit, select "DEL" mode on the remote, open the device menu, hold the RIGHT hard button down and select the TELEVISION device.

This is really interesting. It sounds like ProntoEdit 2.0 has some new variations in the Device Properties. If I understand correctly, Device Action can be set to either select the device or power the device.

Rick's problem is that he programmed his Hitachi television using the UDB built in to his Pronto. When the device was added, the UDB automatically set the Device Action to "Power On". I sure wish Philips would post a version of 2.0 so that I could help you guys more effectively.

Rick,

Daniel is right, you can correct this problem by deleting the Device Action on the Pronto stand alone. Hopefully, someone with a new Pronto will describe the process of adding devices from the UDB on the Pronto standalone. There should be an option that appears then for Device Selection or Power On.

Rikardo hit the nail right on the head. The pronto is preprogramed to turn the TV on/off when you hit the TV device (unless of course you hold the left bottom button when you hit the TV device). You must follow Rikardo's instructions through Pronto edit 2.0. Thanks
