I have a Radio Shack 15-2117 remote with the JP1 interface. I have some questions.
1. A Chaparral Monterey 90/95 remote has repeat if thw volume or channel buttons are held, but the codes for the JP1 do not. Is there a way to specify the repeat in the spreadsheet of the protocol? Is the repeat method specific to the protocol or is there a general methodology?
2. Shifted functions - Are these specific to particular JP1 remote controls, or do they also apply to the 15-2117 as well? If so, what button asserts the shift? Does the shift work by holding it while pressing another button, or is it press shift, press button to do a shift button? And if the latter, does the shift state get cleared after pressing the function button?
3. They are 15 devices it seems in the 15-2117 but only 8 device selections. Is this just so you can have more devices to pull buttons for macro keys, or are these other devices accessible directly? Is there another purpose for these extra devices?
Thanks in advance,
Ira

1. JP1 remotes normally do repeat when buttons are held. A bad learned signal may make that fail (It wasn't clear to me whether you're using learned signals). In an upgrade, there are a few errors that might cause problems with repeat. The only common error that could do that is switching between NEC1 and NEC2 (use one of those when the other is required).
2. On the 2117 it is the P key. You do a short press of P, release it and then press the key you want shifted. To shift a digit (assuming you aren't using the extender) you must press P twice before the digit.
3. I haven't seen any clear description of how those extra device modes can be used. I know there is no predefined key codes to select them, so you'd need to use a select special protocol. I know keymoves don't handle device modes beyond the first 8, but I think learned signals do and I think setup codes can be used in those extra device modes.

John,
Thanks for the answers. Changing to NEC2 seemed to fix the repeat problem. None of the buttons are learned, but all derived from codes from various sources (which I believe to be immensely better).
On the "Key Moves" tab when editing a "Key Move", the Bound Key Device window show choices of;
TV, VCR, CBL, SAT, CD, DVD, AUX, AUDIO, MYSYS, db-09, db-10, db-11, db-12, db-13, db-14 whereas the Device Type pull down show choices of;
TV, VCR, DVD, LDP, TAPE, DAT, CBL, SAT, VIDEO, CD, RCVR, AMP, MISC, HOME, PHONO
I don't think one has to do with the other, but it documents the order as shown in IR.EXE for the 15-2116/15-2117.
I'm wondering if P shifts the Device buttons by 8 (with MY SYSTEM button selecting the 9th device code without shifting)? Time to check it out.
Also, as soon as I've finished testing, I'll be uploading the KeyMaster files (which include all working functions including discrete codes) for
Sony TV KV27FV15 Chaparral Monterey 35/55/90/95 Satellite receivers Channel Master Antenna Rotator 9537 Dish Network 301 Receiver Sony DVD DVP-NC600 Sony VCR SLV-998HF
Regards,
Ira

I don't think one has to do with the other, but it documents the order as shown in IR.EXE for the 15-2116/15-2117. You are correct in guessing the device "types" and device "buttons" are not directly related. Each device button can be programmed with upgrades using each of those device types.
