My new Kameleon remote will not operate my Sony STE-DE 595 at all. I've tried all program codes etc. and can't get it to recognize the reciever. What am I doing wrong? Any hints.

Nothing, it's sony, they changed the codeset, the new one isn't preprogrammed into any universal. You need to chose between the kameleon and the sony oem remote. See you can change the codeset your receiver responds to but not the original remote. So if you change, the sony remote will no longer control the sony receiver. See this thread.

Thanks mucho! I did what you suggested and it operates the receiver (to a certain extent). Turns it off and on and switches between some sound modes (not to DVD) but I guess I need to fool around w/it some more and try to program it correctly. Any advice would be appreciated.

If the 2133 has the Sony Tape code 0243, you could try what's discussed here. If it doesn't have that code, call and have code AMP0158 loaded over the phone. And see if you can also have code RCVR1658, which is supposed to be a code for the AV2 mode, you might get back the use of your oem remote.
