I've read through the previous posts, so I'm aware that there are some advanced functions that have yet to be found for this receiver. However, I've come across a really odd problem.

My old remote (OFA7200) will turn off the receiver with the code 251. The exact same code (with the same 0013 device setting) does nothing at all on the 8811. I found several useful codes for the D608, but none of them work when sent from the 8811. I can use advanced codes for the TV, VCR, and DVD, but they don't work for the receiver.

Does anyone have any idea why this would be?

Thanks,
Bowie

Yeah, UEI replaced code 0013 with 1023, a combi-code that doesn't accept advanced codes. The RS 15-2116 still has code 0013, or though there isn't anything mapped under it, you can still get all the advanced codes from it. Using code 1023 as a base, and appling the EFC's from code 0013, makes it a functional setup code in the 2116/2117 remote.

Great, so my brand new remote (which I bought mainly to play with it's JP1 capabilities) won't even do as much as the old one I had.

Does the RS 15-2116/2117 have a JP1 connector?

If you're going the JP1 route, you can add code 0013 to the 8811. And yes the 2116 has the JP1 pins.

Ok, so code 0013 is still valid for the remote, it's just not included in the standard configuration. So once I figure out the JP1 interface, I can add code 0013, and then use it along with the advanced codes?

I should be the last person to be talking about JP1, but yes it should probably be one of the easiest upgrades. Since code AMP0013 has been around since the 80's.

In the JP1 world we don't tend to think in terms of UEI setup code numbers anymore (ie, AMP/0013, etc) because who cares if there's a UEI code for the device as you can create one yourself!

Once you join the JP1 ranks, take a look in our file section to see if someone has already created an upgrade for this device.

I've got my cable now and everything is working great! I found a KM upgrade for the D608. It was made for the RS 15-2116, but it seems to work fine for me. It even has a code for the Digital Surround, which I had thought was not available on these remotes!

Thanks for the help everyone. I will probably be coming back here with more questions as I start to experiment.

Obviously, you changed the remote in KM to the 8811, right? Remember, upgrades are remote-specific.

which I had thought was not available

It's amazing what these low cost remotes can do once you use JP1!
