I have a OFA 8810W, I have found the discrete code 109 which turns off my Sony receiver, at least in testing this code. But when I try to assign this code using the 994 reassignment sequence it seems either not to save the code or if it does save the code nothing happens.
Anyone got an idea. I am trying to save this code so I can program in the off codes into my HTM-500

The majority of Setup codes beginning with 1***, do not accept advanced codes. Yes you test them, but you can't map them. There is a work-around though, you need to program the audio device you're using for your receiver with a tape code, 0243. Map advanced code 109, then reprogram using code 1058,1158, or whatever you were using.

Edmund thanks for the reply I finally got to try this the other night my 8810w didn't seem to like the 0243 code didn't seem to matter if I put this in the receiver code or any other place. Looking forward to any other ideas. Thanks again

The 8910 & 9910 both have one tape code each, and it's the sony. Since you're just trying to teach your mx-500, put the mx-500 into learn mode, hit SET, 1-0-9, and let the mx-500 learn it.
Edit: I just tried it, works great, Got the mx-500 into learn mode, choose a key to learn to, hit P*474 on my 2116, which is PIP command for my UTV,and the mx-500 learned it the first time.

Works like a charm makes me wonder why I didn't think to try this in the first place. Edmund you are the greatest do you have some web site with all of your knowledge? If you don't you should consider it.
Thanks Again I can now turn off my home theater with one button rather than pressing multiple keys.
