I have a MediaStar device that I have learned signals from that indicates it is a recs80 device 1. Is there a match for this in the Radia Shack 15-2116?

Regards,

GB

As explained in the ReadMe for decodir, RECS80 is a family of protocols with significantly different timing. You need to know which RECS80 it is.

In UEI remotes I only know the characteristics of two protocols that generate versions of RECS80, pid 45 and pid 68. I think there is at least one more UEI pid for RECS80, but I haven't had time to investigate.

The 15-2116 has only a single setup code for pid 45 and that one is device 5. It has no setup codes for pid 68. So if your signals decode with the timing of either of those versions of RECS80 you can build an upgrade and you can't use a built in setup code.

If the timing is way off from pid 45 or pid 68 (for example if it's the unmodulated form of RECS80) then you should upload the eeprom image containing the learned signals to the diagnosis folder and we'll check whether there's a built in setup code or a built in pid or what it takes to make an upgrade.

Thanks,

I have loaded the eeprom image into the JP1 diagnosis directory.

Thanks,

I have loaded the eeprom image into the JP1 diagnosis
directory.

I reviewed the document to which you referred and it appears the the PID 0045 meets the timing of the learned signals. In any case I have provided the file "MediaStar RESC80.txt" to the diagnosis area.

Thanks for your help.

I looked at that file. It is definitely pid 45.

It should be easy to create an upgrade. You started by asking if there is a match in the 15-2116. There isn't, but since you used JP1 to read the learned signals I assume you can use JP1 to add the required upgrade.

In KM you need to select pid 45 and use the decoded EFC numbers and you need to force the fixed data to be C0 (KM doesn't know how to do device or OBC translation for pid 45. See the other recent thread on RECS80 for more details).

If you use RemoteMaster instead of KM, you can use either EFC or OBC because it knows how to translate and you should specify device 1, because it knows to translate that to fixed data C0 (that's where I got the C0 from).

Thanks for all your help. I can't test until tomorrow but I sent the upgarded keys to another learning remot and they have a near perfect match.

I hope you remembered to delete the learned signals (or use a different device mode) when testing the upgrade.
