wanting to control a Projector via 232, Already have the NC50 and the Remote. My question is: Is the 'Nevo Serial Module' a piece of electronics that actually does something or is it a simple lead converting the 3.5mm output of the NC50 to the DB9 connector of the Projector?

yes, there is circuitry inside the nevo serial adapter, you can't just use an 1/8" to db9 adapter.

The spec sheet says that it pulls 5v from the NC-50 to do whatever it does.

Yes, I was a little disappointed to find that out. Ordered one yesterday, arrived this morning, needed a Null modem too, typed in my RS232 strings and immediately the Projector responded to the codes. One happy customer.
