Just thought I'd check here and see if someone has an answer for me. I understand that there are specific modules that Nevo has developed that offer 2-way RS232 (ie. Escient Fireball). Is it possible to add a new serial device and still retain 2-way communication? What I'd like to do is control, for example, an Oppo BDP-83 via RS232 and get feedback on its status, etc.

I've added all of the query commands and the dialog allows to compare the resulting query to a known command (ie. Power On). But for commands that may multiple responses, it seems to be difficult to query for a specific string.

I hope I explained that clearly enough. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

nope, they only allow 2 way control/feedback with the preconfigured modules.  and you cant edit the module.  basically, it is an application that runs on the remote.  you assign a button to load this app, then use the home button on the remote to exit the app and return to normal operation.  the only thing you can configure is what the volume buttons do while you are inside the app.

i suggest that you submit a feature request ticket on the mynevo website.  if enough of us ask for true 2 way control/feedback that you can configure yourself, maybe they will implement it someday.

Considering that it's such a glaring deficit in Nevo's feature set, particularly relative to their competitors, I'm assuming there must be some really good reason they haven't implemented it yet. Do you have any idea, feedback from them or just speculation, as to why they've dragged their feet on 2-way? It appears well within the equipments' capacity.

who is their competition that allows you to configure your own 2 way?  I'm a URC dealer as well and they don't have that capability either.  Does RTI or Pronto Pro do it?  I'm not familiar with either of them, but if they offer that, then I will be looking into them.

what I would like to see Nevo do, besides the 2 way,  is have a better rack mount processor similar to the URC MSC400.  something that can do trigger macros and store all macros in the processor itself.  a new remote besides the two piece of crap Harmony wannabes would be cool too.

The only thing I have heard is that they are working on a new version of studiopro.  one thing I have noticed with Nevo, is that they don't update things very often, but when they do, it works.  maybe they will add 2way with the update.  i'm not holding my breath though.
