The URC300 will not learn any codes (Fails everytime) from my remote for my Sony STR-DE545 receiver - The remote is controlling the basic functions through an internal Sony code in the remote - but I want to also program some of the Home theater functions from the original remote(Sony RM-PP404) and the URC300 seems to have problem learning any command from it. I put fresh batteries in it(URC and the Sony remote), and made sure the original remote is working correctly.

Any thoughts, hints, tricks.

Thanks

I had the same problem with my URC-300. I had no problems learning from my Toshiba TV, Yamaha receiver, Sony DVD recorder w/160 gig harddrive, Sony DVD player, and JVC VCR.
However, it refused to learn from my Sony VCR's remote control.

I solved the problem by first teaching the codes to my old Cinema 7 learning remote control and than using the Cinema 7 to teach the URC-300. The URC-300 had no problems learning from the Cinema 7.

I have no idea why the URC-300 is so finicky about learning from some remotes. I also tried everything and I only succeeded in directly teaching the URC-300 about 10% of the keys from the SONY VCR remote.

I was already thinking the same workaround. I have an old Radio Shack 15-1994 JP1 remote that I guess I will dust off and learn from.

It is bizarre though.

Another thing I noticed on the URC300 - I am transmitting RF to the MRF100 to control my devices and for some reason if I hold the remote somewhat vertically(Up and down) the RF signal doesn't get picked up by the MRF100(And I am only like 5 feet away from the base unit)

Little quirks but I guess no remote is perfect
