Hi,

I haven't programmed my mx700 since 2003 and had lost the original mx-editor software. My serial number in the form nnnn nnnnnn was rejected by the URC site but luckily the trick of entering the six digit bit twice worked and I now have a copy of the editor.

My problem is that although updates ( remote -> PC ) start they never finish.

The connection is working and the remotes LCD shows "loading" but it hangs after 19% then 26% then 81% ( I though that one was going to work ! ). So it always hangs but at some different nn% each time.

Any ideas much appreciated.

Try new batteries in the remote. I've seen this fix it many times (assuming it has worked on that PC before).

Yes. This is very typical of a bad battery problem.

Thanks to all.

I wasn't really thinking was I ?

I sort of had it in my mind that the file format might have changed in the 3 years since I had last attempted to program the beast and that the upload was hanging for some "real" reason.

Anyway... a change to a second PC fixed it, not sure what was wrong with the first but it's using a serial interface and that has to be embarrassing for any device.

thanks again
