I was wondering if there is a quick way to remove a device from the Main Menu of my URC-200? I only need 5 devices right now and would like to remove the other 5 so that all devices are on one page. I would also like to change the order of the devices in the Main Menu, is there an easy way?

No, there isn't an easy way to do what you want. First you can't delete a device totally, you can erase the device name. But pressing the device key with no name , you are still able to enter the device and leave the main screen.

I just got the URC-300 "Customizer" which has 15 devices and I want to do the same exact thing - I only have 4 devices that I want to control. This limitation is a deal killer to me and I may return it. Not much of a "customizer" remote if it can't do this. My channels are through a DirectTivo so I have to scroll to the middle of the second page to control it.

I am disapponted that you can't remove devices. Worse yet, I tried renaming and reassigning a device , such as the VCR device to DVR so it would be on page one for my kids , and thought if I picked the right "From table" and chose the code, that the screens would match the form table device catagory - unfortunately not.

I don't see this being an easy remote for my family - I may understand it, but my family won't use it if they have to hunt around for things.

I spoke to URC and was told that this remote is old, codes are old(But if I send it to them they will flash update the firmware)and th RF-30 replaces it and can do the things we want - but its more expensive so thats the tradeoff

To program the VCR device with PVR code:

1. main & ent
2. P-PRO
3. using the cursor key highlight the new PVR device, formally VCR
4. press SELECT
5. press PAGE
6. using the cursor keys highlight PVR device
7. press SELECT
8. enter 0-9-0
9. save
10. main
11. main

I purchased my URC-300 two weeks ago and have it just the way I want it. I also had only seven devices and did not need page two of the main menu.

Although it takes a little extra effort the unused devices can be deleted or at least erased. In my case I wanted to delete all the remaining devices on page two. The following is required:

1. First arrange the devices the way you want them on page 1 of 2 by following emund's advice above.

2. Erase every learned key command on all pages for each device on the LCD that you do not want.

3. Erase the actual names of the keys on all pages on the LCD.

4. Hide all of the pages for the unused devices.

5. Finally, erase the name of the unused device on the main menu.

When you actually press the blank where the device was you will just get a black rectangle that does nothing. The next time you go to that page it will refresh and the space will be blank again.

The only faults that I found with this remote (and they are minor) are:

1. You cannot hide page 2 of 2 of the main menu even though there are no devices there.

2. If you blank out all of devices on page 2 of 2, as I described above, the remote will not allow you to add another device to page 2 of 2 if you later change your mind. You have to trick the remote first by unhiding a page at an empty device location and typing in any name for a key first. Then type in a device name so the remote will then allow you to add that device.

3. The black insert surrounding the select button is slightly smaller than the provided space. As a result it shifts slightly giving you a strange feeling when pressed. It needs a wedge to keep it in place.

4. Can't copy devices and keys to new locations easily.

5. Can't figure out how to get discrete on & off codes for my Sony Video Recorder w/Harddrive (Model # RDR-HX900).
There is no P-Pro code for it. There should be a code since the remote is newer than the device.

I actually was able to teach the remote the discrete on & off codes for my Sony DVD player, my Sony VCR, and my JVC VCR by using my old URC 7800 ONE FOR ALL Cinema 7 remote control. After all these years I discovered that the Cinema 7 could do more tricks that were not published in the manual.

I've done this - but all of the pages behhind the new PVR device are still for a VCR - Found out you have to manually rename and reassign them.

I have been in the process of redoing them all.

Thanks for the try

My solution is do what others have said about setting up the decvices you want, and then use the other device locations as macro instead of having them control the unused device - such as a macro for favorite radio stations etc.

Yes of course the labels remain, but IR commands from the PVR code are now present. I never promised a rose garden.

That's one of the main flaws in the URC300 and MX350. I don't know why the guys at URC thought that it would be a good idea to hvae the labels of the buttons stay the same even though you choose a different 'From' table.

So it is the same on the MX350 too. That's funny - I called URC to get some tech support on some of these issues on the URC300, and his answer for all of the shortcomings I had found on the URC300 was to go and buy an MX350 because it was the "updated" model. Glad I didn't because I would have been pissed to get it home and see that the same shortcoming was on the MX350 too.

No, the updated model for the urc-300 is the RF30. On it the labels change with device code.

So now I really don't trust URC as he specifically told me to get the MX350.

Well I think I got my URC300 working pretty well, except for it not learning from my A/V Sony remote(can't figure out what the issues is - I have a different post on this). What other enhancements does the RF30 offer over the URC300 as I may try to return my URC300 for it - Its only $15 more - Would I be able to have the RF30 clone from my URC300 since they are essentially the same(I have done alot of customizing on the URC300

No, you can not clone the urc-300 to Rf30, you will ruin it. I have explained the differences a few times already, just search for RF30. There isn't many threads on the subject.

Yea I just found that out - I called Universal Remote and they told me the same thing. Sounds like the only difference is the newer codes(which I don't need because I've learned everything) and when you change device all the pages behind correspond(which is not a big deal since I have customized everything).

It would be too much hassle for me to reprogram ands RF30 as I am a JP1 user on another remote I have and have pulled alot of custom discrete codes from places and don't feel like going through the hassle if there's no major difference.
