I have tried my MX-800 to learn Dish 811 HD receiver codes repeatedly but no luck. After learning and putting to test, I find many of my learned codes wont work. Its very frustrating. Is there something we need to do to get this working reliably?

Also can someone tell me how to simulate PRESSS AND HOLD option on MX800?

I want to jump say, 3 ticks if I press and hold for a second instead of 1 tick. This is especially when I am surfing channel Guide or bumping volume. How do i do this?

Thanks
V

Are you holding the button down when teaching the key to the MX-800? Or just press and releasing it. Hold it down.

Another possibility is to hold the button down for a second, and then tell the MX-800 to learn it. This might let you learn the skip code and assign it to a unique button.

If possible don't use learned codes at all ...

If you trying to included a "press and hold" in a macro, that can't be done with the 800. As far as learning commands for the 811 are concerned, take a look at this thread: [Link: remotecentral.com]

Surf,

I did what the instruction said and voila works like a charm. I still have a major gripe with the performance. I have set all devices to RF only mode. Which one of these options is better?

1. Turn on IR blaster and dont use emitters/
2. Turn off IR Blaster and use emitters?

I am having very sketchy performance with FAVs. I coded macros for channel stations...Example. Macro for Comedy Central on FAV as 1....0.....5
I tried putting delays between each number and tried without delays as well.

Its very inconsistant. sometimes it skips zero and punches 1...5 Sometimes just 1. or just 5...Its very unreliable. Should I re-learn the codes for numbers? or is there a recommended delay between each channel number macro?

Thanks

First thing to determine is whether the flakiness is in the IR codes or due to the RF/emitters.

Program your remote for IR only and try your favorite channel switching and see if that's reliable.

If that works fine, then you're probably flooding the device with too much IR when using RF mode. You can try the flasher only, you can try emitter only. Try repositioning the emitter. Not directly on the IR sensor but near it, in front of it a few inches, under it, on the side, over it, etc. The emitters have a TON of range, far too much really. You can also try covering the sensor with various things to cut down on the IR. There's a lot of suggestions on this board if you just search up some threads about the MRF units.
