I have an MX-850, and when I upload from the PC to the remote (macros, firmware if there's an update, etc.), the remote goes through what appears to be a brief diagnostic routine in the middle of the upload. At the steps "IROUT" and "IRAMP," it reports "FAIL!"

However, when it goes through what I think must be this same routine on the occasion of having its batteries changed, it reports "GOOD".

Is there a more detailed diagnostic that can be run on these things? Any idea why it would report "FAIL!" during an upload, but not during its initialization when the batteries are changed? Is this "normal"?

Thanks!

I think it does this if you're using RF.

Thanks; I am indeed using RF...so that could well be the explanation.

...and it is normal to for it to report FAIL on those two. See this previous thread: [Link: remotecentral.com]
