Is there a way to learn a code from a remote button that does one thing when pushed once and another thing when held down for 3 seconds? The new D*TV DVR FF button needs to be held down 3 seconds to jump to the end of a recorded program. Thanks.

This sounds like a good candidate for the " duck blind" method of learning. Gilbert

I'm going to guess that it's your device that does something different, and that the remote just sends out the same code for as long as you hold the button. Try learning the button to your remote, and pressing it for a few seconds to test. If that does work, you're all set but I suspect you'll have problems getting it to work in a macro.
(You could always mess with the hex code and make it long, but it's tricky and not guaranteed to work)

I got it to work. I held down the button on the DVR remote for 3 seconds and then pushed the button I wanted to teach on the MX-500. Worked like a charm.

Great news. Having to wait 3 seconds before being able to use slow mode or skip to tick was dumb, anyway.
