Have a quick question hopefully someone has some insight on.

I have a customer with two systems, basicly both are using MX-900's and mrf-300's. One is addressed 2,the other is 9. They both are using vip 211 dish network HD boxes.

Here is my problem, when he is in the back room going thru the guide to find a station, and she is in the front room doing the same, they fight each other for control, and then one remote takes control of the others guide and start scrolling around. Which i do not understand since both systems are addressed differently.

Any ideas?

Range is set up to be able to control from out of the rooms so i dont know how much adustment is avail there.

Thank you,
Reggie

Try a different address / unit code. Something is obviously being crossed somewhere. Check all the settings for the devices on both remote's programming.

If you're using the wired emitters with the MRF-300, address each one separately in MXEditor. Make sure you have the MRF-300 on an address other than "0". That should work even if the Dish receivers were on the same ID.

I have run into a similar situation using a MSC-400 and MRF-300. I put the kids DVR on the MRF-300 as I assumed we could then simultaneously be using the remotes at the same time. However in viewing the status lights, one remote will block out the signal of the other.

I am wondering if my assumption was wrong and that only one RF signal be received at a time or am I doing something wrong? The MRF-300 is on code 2 and the MRF-400 is on 12.

The URC remotes only use a single frequency regardless of what address the base is set to. This means that collisions will occur when two remotes are used at the exact same time causing the base to get confused and potentially mix-up the codes.

If this happens a lot and not all of your equipment is in a cabinet, the only work-around I can think of would be to take some of the equipment off of RF and use direct IR.

Thanks for the info. I think I might as well run everything through the MSC-400 instead then.

Using just one device probably won't help. Might even be worse.

I don't see a way around this without preferably multiple-frequency support, or some sort of RF collision detection circuit.

Hopefully, people are just watching TV most of the time and not clicking buttons...
