The Toshiba 36A43 has one button for both on and off and another button (one) that toggles the selection of the input from TV to Video 1 to Video 2 to Video 3 and finally back to TV.
I understand that macros can be created using discrete codes for the separate on and off functions as well as selecting the correct input. However, are they available for Toshiba TV sets and can they be used on the URC-200/URC-300 remotes.
I tried looking for data on my model of TV in the database without any luck. I think I read somewhere that discrete codes are available for on & off and that short macros could be used to get around the fact that Toshiba may not have discrete codes for the input selection.
Any help would be appreciated.

No, toshiba are well known toads, meaning no discretes. Even if there were discretes available, you would have needed another remote that accepts discretes, then that remote can be used to teach the urc-200 & 300 remotes.

Are you saying that I cannot have separate on & off buttons to enter into macrosfor the Toshiba TV?
Is there a work around for the Toshiba toads?
Would a cheap OFA 8810W remote have the discretes that could teach the URC-200 or URC-300?

There are possible working workarounds for the inputs, but none for power. The workaround is to find an anchor, a starting point where all macro can fire from.
Yes the 8810 is good for older gear, to load discretes into the learning remotes, but it is useless for toshiba.

How do I find an anchor for a set that uses one button to select the input as stated in my original post. I need a little more detail.
Also, the report on the URC-200/URC-300 talks about discretes but says few are in the database. Most of my equipment is less than five years old. Will I be able to have separate on & off switches for the rest of my equipment? For example my receiver is a Yamaha HTR-5960 (same as RX-V659).
Is the URC-300 the right choise or should I look at a similar priced Harmony that can handle discrete on/off codes?

Often, pressing "1" on your remote will bring you to channel 1, nomatter whether you were on a normal tuned channel or an external input before. So, a macro to get to external input AV3 might be:
"1" (to bring you to channel 1, a known position, regardless of where you were before) "TV/AV" (to bring you to AV1) "TV/AV" (to bring you to AV2) "TV/AV" (to bring you to AV3)
You may need pauses between them!
P.S. It's not the URC remote that can't handle discrete signals, it's the Toshiba TV that doesn't support them. A Harmony won't do any better.

Really appreciate your help. The information you provided works perfectly on my TV set and should work perfectly in a macro on the URC-300.
Thanks again.
