I just bought the Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi receiver. I downloaded the software for the MX-900 from their site. When I open up the IR database I cannot find the receiver. Can I use another model? I rather not learn the remote because I want to program the MX-900 with the discrete on and off buttons. I also purchased the Pioneer Elite DV-46AV DVD player. I have the same problem with this unit. I guess both units are too new for the database. Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou.

I was just working on getting my new Pioneer VSX-80 programmed into my URC-200 and have had a horrible time getting it to work. I did find the discrete codes at [Link: pioneerelectronics.com] which has your receiver listed.

you dont have to use the exact model...alot of times the company will use the same ir codes...just test them out and you will find one with codes you can use.

You can use the VSX-74TXVi for everything but 4 new functions; HDMI 3 & 4, Sound Retriever, and Surround Back (Virtual) processing. The VSX-84 ccf files are available on the page that Smeagol listed if you have ProntoEdit and can cut and paste those discreet commands. For the DV-46A almost any of the recent DVD players codes will work the basic function. There is no discreet "On" however. New files are being posted to the Pioneer site as the products start to ship so the DV-46A should be there soon too. I have heard that new Pioneer codes for the IR database will be in the next round of updates for Universal but there are hundreds of manufacturers and only so much time. So if not then maybe the next time.

Thankyou for the responses. I will try and program the remote using the IR codes from Pioneer's site. I haven't done this before but I'm sure I will figure it out. If not I will be back asking more questions. This is a great forum for people like me who don't know much about these remotes yet. Thanks again.

I always use the VSX74 codes myself. They have yet to fail me.
