Ok - I'm a rookie - so you'll have to bear with me...

I purchased the MX-3000 and have been trying to program the remote.

1. Integra DTR 7.4
2. Onkyo 6 disc 540
3. Motorola HD cable box
4. Mitsubishi 55613 HD projection
5. Run of the mill Samsung DVD/VCR

All the "Pre-programmed IR codes" are in the program fields and I go through the process of creating and saving each file separatley. When I "sync" the remote - none of the changes take place on the romte and nothing works....

The user manual is extremely vague and does not make sense to this rookie - so I was wondering if anybody had a step by step explanantion on how exactly you program and sync the remote? I was considering a call to technical support....but thought the expert advice on here would be a bit simpler and with "real world" advice...

Previously I had an Onkyo Chad (bit of a dinosaur) which did the trick and was simple as hell to set-up.....

Also - if anybody knows how to get their entire itunes library to sink with NetTunes - I'd appreciate that too...

What do you mean you're saving each file separately? There should only be one file. Please explain your steps.

Thank you,
Damon DG

Yeah, a bit more info is necessary. Here's a stupid question, are you actually Downloading the file to the remote? Merely plugging it in and syncing it won't cut it. You plug it in then download it to the remote. Probably obvious, but that's what I'm getting from your explanation here.

I told you I was a rookie.....

OK - I got the download section (bad wording if you ask me - I would've called it transmit to remote or something similar - download to me means pulling it from somewhere else like a file or off the web)

I was able to upload most codes except for my DVD/VCR combo - I even set up some timed inputs - multiple power ons etc...

Anyone have pre-made codes for a Samsung DVD VCR combo set - Model# V4600?

Sometimes manufacturers use the same codes across multiple models. Did you try some of the other Samsung DVD-V models? It looks like, to me, that the DVD-V3500. 3650, and 3800 all use the same codes (DVD 159). My guess would be that yours does the same. I'd try that first. Then if not, try learning.

I agree with your Upload/Download wording complaints. That threw me for a loop when I first started programming. But I think it's a carry over from the Pronto lingo.

That samsung has its own code base... its not a VCR or DVD.

But I guess this guy maybe SOL due to the new policy.

DVD/VCR combos are listed under DVD. Your best bet is to do as KC mentioned and look for a similar model.

Thanks for all the advice - unfortunatley since my DVD/VCR combo is a bit antiquated and really not up to spec with the rest of my system - I had to "learn" each command. I tried to use the pre-fab codes but not all worked and the others did not work properly. All in all - it's working now but I may just dump the unit and go after a HD or Blu-Ray DVD....

Anyone have any foresight on which version will prevail - from what I gather most people are lining up on the blu-ray side....

Remember the battles.....
Vinyl vs. 8 track
8 track vs. tape
Tape vs. CD
Betamax vs. VHS
VHS vs. Laser disc
Laser Disc vs. DVD
DVD vs. High Def (HD vs. Blu Ray)

The war never ends....

Great summary, but you left one out: Before there was 8 track there was 4 track. Same type cartridge as the 8 track, but with smaller capacity. Yep, I actually had a 4 track recorder and put all my vinyl on those bulky tapes. Ahhh, those were the days

But I digress......

Another rookie question....I have had the MX 3000 for a while and have some how stumbled my way through set up...mostly because of help from all of the people on this site.

I am trying to add a photo file to the background of my main screen. I cannot seem to locate the menu where i can attach a photo? When I go to graphics etc....it only shows the themes that came to the system?

Any advice on how to do this would be appreciatted!

Thanks,

Graham
