I just bought a used remote for backup for my B&K avr 507s2. The person that I purchased it from has reprogrammed it for his personal use and I need to reset it to factory mode and can't figure out how to do it. I'm assuming there must be some relatively easy way to cancel all new programming and bring it back to it's original factory settings. I've looked at the software that came with the remote but it won't sync to my computer as well. If anyone knows the magical way to undo this I would appreciate it. Even if the batteries are removed for an extended time, the programming will be retained. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Keith,
There's not really a way to do a factory reset on that device. What you'll need to do is get that MXeditor software working and then download the 507s2 MXD file to your pc. Load ONLY that device into the editor and then download that to you MX-700. I have the 507s1 upstairs in my theater. I just picked up an MX-800 for the downstairs.
Let's try to approach the problem differently. Can you tell me/us what exactly happens when you try to synch the remote and your pc? Have you tried changing which COM port the software is using to communicate with the remote over? Are you using the correct cable to plug into the serial port on your pc and the remote on the other end? Do you have another pc that you could try?
Let us know. I've done this on at least 4 different pc's and they each had their own little quirk to get it working correctly. More often than not, it's either a cable issue or a COM port setting isssue.

Slider Jeff, hi I'd like to chat with you for a minute or two on my dime and an offer to make to youi regarding me paying you something to return it to factory settings. If I could speak with you for a couple of minutes I would explain. If you wish, here's my e:Mail address and you can send me your phone # if you are comfortable with that and I will call you,

Keith,
Just sent you an email. Nevermind paying for anything. We'll work through your issue over email or on the phone.
You might want to remove your email address from your message above now that I have it here at home.

OEX thanks for the suggestion but it doesn't work on this particular remote. I tried pressing main and stop at least a dozen times and choosing the three options one at a time with no success, it must be an mx700 thing only, thanks,

Hi I have an MX800. It was a few years old and worked ok. I was updating the programming (with new MX-700 editor), and I got an error in the transfer. I noticed the batteries were low and the usual programming on the LCD was not there. I put in new batteries, and the thing just keeps "testing". Everything is ok, the last LCD says "skipped", and then it repeats itself. I can't get it to connect to the editor b/c it keeps testing. Any ideas?

Hello, Keith. Just read your post from 2006 re. the SR10.1 remote for your B&K 507 II. I just replaced my 305 with a nice 507. The remote was re-programmed with a whack of stuff which renders a lot of the features useless. Unfortunately, I did not get the CD with it. Guessing you did. Can you make a copy of your CD? I'd be happy to pay you for it. Thanks. - Jim

Use the NXG software found in the file section of this website. One for the RM-NX820. Same remote as the mx-700.
