I recently received the following error from the MX-850 Editor when I try to upload to the PC. Anyone run accross this?

I'm using a FTDI USB to Serial Converter.
I unistalled and re-installed the driver with the same results.

"Unknown answer - Wakeup"

I used to get some errors every once in a blue moon when loading to the remote when i used to use a usb-serial adaptor. From what i could tell it was occuring from programming the remote, uploading, then detaching to test and sometimes after making changes and reconnecting it would throw an error during the load.

My solution that solved the problem was to save the project, unplug the adaptor from the laptop, pop a couple batteries out to shut down the remote, close mx editor, replug the adaptor and then restart mx editor....basically rebooting the remote and connection to the laptop. Of course now i am using a serial pcmcia card and have no problems anymore.

You can also try loading a blank project to the remote (assuming you have the current project saved somewhere already or is this what you are trying to accomplish in the first place?). Then reload the real project.

Also, when is the last time you ran live update?

The problem I am having is when I try to upload from the remote.
The download works okay.

I tried to upload again after my download, and I get the "wake up" error again.

I did a Live Update today.

found the problem (on the net)... get a belkin USB to serial adapter... for whatever reason... few other adapters seem to work... worked for me. $30 at staples.

And to think you spit out one of the more intelligent posts I have seen. What happened? Did I touch a raw spot or something? Chill.. I was just poking fun at some of the insanity going on here. For you it is only a remote. For me it is my livelyhood and at least I can have fun with all of this craziness.

Go into device manager and right click on USB Serial Port, and go to properties. Port Settings tab, Advanced button, and under BM Options... change the Latency Timer to a lower value (I used "1", and it works perfectly).

Hope this helps... mine is a Cables Unlimited adapter purchased from Newegg btw.

3 years later and finally a solution!

I tried it too and it worked. Just set up MX Editor on a laptop that I installed Windows 7. Changing the latency worked great. Now I can upload.

Changing the latency to 1 worked for me also. Windows 7, 64-bit. I had to buy a new USB-Serial adapter since Belkin does not have 64-bit drivers. Using CTG USB-2920.

I think you mean Cables Unlimited not CTG. My Belkin adapter does not work with 64bit Vista either for lack of a driver and Belkin has no plans for one at the moment. The USB-2920 is cheaper than the Keyspan item I was considering. Thanks for the heads up.

Apologies for being a bit OT...

I've got the SIIG usb-to-serial adaper (model JU-CB1S12-S3) and drivers installed in windows 7 pro, but I am unable to access the advanced tab of the port control settings due to registry access permissions, even as administrator. I've been working through various suggestions found via google, but so far no joy. What did you change to enable access?

BTW, this adapter did work under XP with the suggested settings.

Update:

Wouldn't you know it, right after posting I found a working solution...

In case someone else is having a similar problem, I had to enable the hidden administrator account (described here), alter the setting while logged in as administrator, and it's now working.
