i'll try and keep a long story short.

recently upgraded to an HD DVR (Explorer 8300 HD) and it won't respond to the MX-850/300 base unit RF set-up. I FEEL LIKE I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING. my remote and base unit work perfect on the following components...

Yamaha 1500
DirecTV Tivo unit
Sony DVD
Sony CD
Pioneer Elite PRO 53 HD tv

the Explorer 8300 works fine with it's own remote, and it works fine with my MX-850 set to IR, so i believe the sensor in the 8300 is fine, it just wont respond consistently to the flasher. i've tried every position and every adjustment to the strength of the flasher. i've also tried changing flashers and using all six ports on the base unit.

help.

Turn the flasher all the way down and position it about 1 inch away from the sensor like a plank? Or place it on the door?

Also, try moving the antenna on the MRF base...see if you can find a "sweet spot" where the DVR starts working...then just make sure everything else is working. There are a lot of threads in this forum on RF reception, try some of those suggestions. Don't be fooled by the flashing lights, it may look for all the world like you're receiving fine, but if the code gets garbled the equipment won't respond properly.

Springs: read your reply and others. decided to do a thorough search of the forum on RF interference before going downstairs and getting to work. spent 45 minutes reading tips and printing threads that might help me.

i decided to try your suggestion first, even though there was little chance it could be that simple......

works like a charm.

goodness...and to think i was ready to take a sledge hammer to my cable box, base station, and anything else within swinging distance at 11:30 PM last night.

thanks again.
