I am currently trying to enhance my MX3000 remote LCD display.
Currently I have a multi-zone setup and from one of the main displays, I can turn on or off each of the zones and then set the input for that zone. What I would like to do is change the button image for the zone that is currently on to a different image so that I can visibly tell that the zone is on. (My neighbors dont like to listen to Blazing Saddles every night when I leave the outdoor speakers on.) I have tried to do this with the image settings for 0 and for 1, this works fine if I change the variable with another button, but when I try to get the macro setting for the same button to invert the varible, I get a flashing image as though it is cycling through the varible settings. Is there a clean way to do this, or do I just have to have a separate button to display the status?
I have seen other examples of this, but they seem to make the use of extra hidden pages and I am trying to be as consice as possible, one button, one varible and two images should be all I need per zone.
Current setup:

    Multi-room reception
  • Projector/theatre
  • Plasma
  • Outdoor Speakers

    Central Distribution
  • Denon 3805 multi-zone
  • HD component and audi switch box, 4 inputs, two outputs

eriswe,

Unfortunately, no, it wont work with a single button and no flashing. The reason for this is that when you press the button, it goes to state 1, when you let go, it comes back to state 0 and then when the macro refreshes the state because of the variable change it goes back to state 1. So it appears to flash. What I do on my remote to make it appear as a single button, but with no flashing is this.

Create two buttons:

Make the first have your 0 and 1 state images, now in the top set the variable correctly, and leave the dynamic state to none.

Make the second have no images, and set it to hidden. Make it the same exact size as the first and put it directly over the top of the first. Now put your macro on this button, including the variable state change which will cause the button below this one to change images.

The result is what appears to be a single button, but with no flashing.

Let me know if you have any questions, I would be happy to create a sample file, when when I get home, for you to look at if need be.

Makes sense, but does require additional button. Also would kind of mess a person up while looking at the screen while pressing the button. You loose the keypress display, in order to enable the button below to show status. Would be nice if the Hidden option was also configurable, then you could do as you say, but display a different option. IE. Hide the second button that displays system off, and show the button system on. Then when keypress system on button => show keypress image, not system off image, until after keypress. This would also require that the buttons in the same location be able to be ordered from back to front.
I think my best solution to this will be to just create a secondary screen for the off states, and jump to that. Seems like a whole lot of extra screens just to do this though.

You still get the effect of pressing the button, if you set the first line of the macro to be changing the variable the button immediately changes state. If you try it you will see what I mean. So immediately after pressing the button, the image changes.

If you actually have 3 different button images, UP, DOWN, and ACTIVE. you can do that too.

On the top Hidden button, make the before/0 be hidden and make the after/1 be the "DOWN" image. You will then get the effect you describe there.. Where you still see the press of the button, and then after it will show the button below that which is the variably changing one.
