I have an 850 remote. This is probably a basic question. Lets say I have the DVD device set up on page one of the Main screen. Lets say I then want to set up an activity macro called WATCH DVD in that same space. If I set up that macro on the same button as the DVD device, does that over ride that device, making it useless, or is this the normal way to set up the macro? I don't need to set up all of my devices on a completely seperate area than the location of my macros, do I?

Ok, there are two ways to handle this...

1) Add a delay as your first step of the macro. This will not allow the macro to trigger until the designated amount of time has passed while pressing the button.

2) Put your devices on Main - Page 2 and your macros on Main - Page 1. This is a very simple and convenient way to setup a remote.

Thanks Damon,

So if I follow step one, would a single push put me into that device, and a push and hold start the Macro, which would then finish up on that device page?

Also what happens if I don't put the delay in? Would the macro still work? Can I get into the device then without running the entire macro?

Yes, or finishing on any page of any device can be programmed in the macro.

Without the delay, the macro will fire as soon as you push the button, unless you hold down the MAIN button while pressing the device button (which will just take you to the device). Adding the delay gives you the ability to have both a single command and a macro on the same button.

As Mike said, you can program a macro with a "go to page" command at the end. That command will drop you off on any page of any device you have programmed. If you are using a macro on a device button, it will go to that device at the end of the macro. If you have a macro only button, then it creates an empty page and ends there.
