I have a MX-600 that I'm using in an upstairs bedroom to control a DirectTivo located in my basement listening room and it works great. I now need a RF remote for my basement tv room so I can control the same Tivo which I would like to put in a cabinet (I'm currently using a MX-500). It seems like the MX-500 and MX-600 layout is just perfect for Tivos. So if I got another MX-600 to use downstairs can two RF remotes work off of the same MRF-100 base station as long as both aren't used at the same time? Are they still available? Is there any other less expensive URC RF remotes that would work off of this base station? I ask this last question because the MX-600 is overkill for my bedroom and could be used downstairs but I would need something to replace it with.

Any URC RF remote will work with the mrf-100. The problem would be keeping the operation independent(the mrf-100 is not adressable) wich in your case shouldn't be a problem.

I'm not sure the 600 is available without the mrf-100. An MX-350 would work for the bedroom at an msrp of $150.

You could get a urc-100(Ithink thats the model number) for less.
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

Urc100, 200, or 300 will work with the same mrf100 that came with your mx-600.

As long as you realize that both remotes should not be used at the same time (because there is not addressing capability), then you'll be fine. The MX-650s & MRF-250 would give you MRF addressing capabilities, as well as IR port addressing.

I've been reading the reviews on the URC remotes and the 100 is definitely out so that just leaves the 200, 300 and another MX-600. I don't see that a MX-350 works with my 100 base station, am I right? While the 200 and 300 seem to have some things the 600 doesn't have, it seems like the latter might be a better remote, am I wrong? It's hard to figure out what I would be giving up on the 600, easier to use transport for my Tivo or just easier to use?

Could someone point out the pluses and minus's between the MX-600 and the URC series?

Would the URC series be likely to interfere with a "Around The House" remote control extender I use for my upstairs satellite receiver, the MX-600 does not interfere?

If I had to choose between the URC 200 and 300 that would be a tough call. I thought the 200 would naturally be my first choice but I read that the side device buttons do not line up with the text so I don't know if that would drive me nuts or not. Never being a fan of touch screens I'm wondering if I wouldn't like the 300 just because it may be layed out better. Are the screens glass like on my 600? Anyway I sure could use some advice.

The MRF-100 will accept RF from any URC RF remote, since the address is "open". This is why you can't use more than one, unless you are controlling completely different equipment with mutiple MRFs.

The MX-600 has a better LCD, IMO. The softkeys for the LCD help navigate by feel, rather than the URC-300 which you need to look at or the URC-200, which only has a single column of LCD buttons.

Thank you,
Damon DG
