I have three questions:
1.) How do you get the codes that you all share from the "files" section on to the remote? I am having trouble with the discrete power "ON" command working in a macro on my JVC TV. It seems as though it is a common problem. I downloaded the file that supposedly fixes this, but I can not figure out how to use it now! Basic question, I know, but I am stuck.
2.) In my new set-up I am relying more and more on the RF capabilities of MX-800 as I have put several components away in a closet. However, sometimes the receiver does not respond to the remote AT ALL. You can sit there and press the button over and over and maybe one out of 20 presses "registers" with the RF receiver and gets sent to the components. Could it be interfernce? I have changed channels on the receiver several times and the problem is still intermittent. It might not respond for a hour or so and then it seems to be fine.
3.) The backlight on my MX-800 went out. Universal fixed it (for free even though it was out of warranty. THANKS URC!). But, alas, 1 week later it is out again. Does anyone else have this problem? Does it make sense to send it in for repair again? I hate to be without my remote and URC took quit a while last time.
Thanks for the help!
-Dave

1) If the file is a .ccf or .mxf type, you can use the MX-Editor's Universal Browser to drag and drop any learned IR codes.
2) Could be interference. Put the dial on the MRF unit on 0 to test for interference. Try different locations for the MRF until there is no blinking on the LED. Then put the dial back to a setting other than 0 for operation.
3) It seems that all of the MX remotes with the light button on the side have problems with the lights. I even had a MX-850 with this problem that supposedly has a better design. The button is usually the problem. About all you can do is have URC fix it again.

Thanks. I see the Universal Browser now and it looks simple enough. However, the code I downloaded is .MDF and not .mxf or .ccf. Anybody know where I can get the JVC discrete power on code that works in macros in .mxf format. Any help is appreciated.

You can't directly use .mxd files in the MX Editor. You can create a .mxf file from the .mxd by using the MX-700/MX-800/MX-850 Editor by: 1. Create a new empty configuration 2. Right click on Main in the tree structure in the left panel and choose Import Device. 3. In the file dialog that appears, choose the .mxd file. 4. The Import Device dialog appears and click on the device name in the Available Device(s) panel, click on the > button and click the OK button in the Device Assign panel that pops up. 5. Click the Save button and you should now see the device in the tree structure. 6. Save the .mxf file and use that in the MX Editor Universal Browser to copy the IR codes.

You can import MXD files into existing MXF files by simply creating a new device, right clicking it and importing the MXD. No need for the Universal Browser. :) Thank you, Damon DG = = = = = http://www.ProRemotes.com - Authorized Dealer & Remote Programming Services

If you just import the MXD file, you'll have to delete all the other commands you don't want (since you only want the discrete on/off). It would be easier to follow hiker's suggestion above, IMO. Mike www.SurfRemoteControl.com

I see your points. It would allow for keeping all of the other commands, if you don't want to replace the whole device. :) Thank you, Damon DG = = = = = http://www.ProRemotes.com - Authorized Dealer & Remote Programming Services
