I have tried to download the editor twice now and install it, both times it has not worked. When I go to open the editor I get a error box saying "The system can not find the file specified" you click OK and the editor opens. When you hit any of the File, Help, tools, page tabs, etc. It crashes. I called Universal Remote today and they said they don't know what's up, it's working on his computer the guy said, then he said download it again. I'm on dial up it's taking me hours to down load this now twice. The disc that came with the remote was blank when I asked about that, they offered to send a new one. So, I have a $1000 remote sitting here that I can't do crap with, because they don't know what's wrong. Can somebody please help? Is there any other place to download this from?

With my Dell laptop I have to use a externally powered USB hub due to low USB power
I also had to uninstal active sync 3.7 and get and install version 4.1 since 3.8 did not work either.

Newly added info...

You will also need to select live update(another long download). You will need to read programming manual. You must stop during the install and follow the instructions on page 2 "Get connected window" and do nothing until the "active sync is installed" window comes up. Download and print the programming manual it is a must do! first step unless you have the CD. I suspect not if you are downloading the program file from the net.

I download it again, I found a older version on here and downloaded it, then ran the update and still the same problem. All the menu buttons across the top, file, edit, view, program, etc.... if you click on any of them, the program crashes, everything else works. When I installed the program each time, the get connected window never came up. The program is working other wise, I can program stuff and down load it to the remote and it works. I did my lights and Dish 811 and it worked. The Programming Manual tells you to use the menu, file, view, those tabs, so, they must do something other then crash the program. I'm running XP Pro on a computer I built myself which has more then enough power and speed. I'm at a loss and there office is closed.

The one thing I noticed is, under TV listing, under Sony, it does not have my 12HT Projector, it does have the 10 and 11HT. I hope one of those works.

Where can I get some custom backgrounds, I want to really have a much better look, then the stock backgrounds that come with it.

I'm new and at a loss too. I did a search for crash, program error, mx-3000 software and found nothing. I hope someone else can help. I had problems and most were due to my failing to follow instructions or hardware problems.

Sorry I couldn't help,
Ken

Thanks Ken,
I don't know, I did a search and found nothing about it. I can't understand why after downloading it three times, the menu tabs are not working.

I found the problem,
I have windows blinds installed and I was running a skin, Alien GUI and while it was on, it caused the editor menu buttons to be frozen and if you clicked on them it crashed the editor. When I turned off Windows Blinds and just ran the Windows XP skin, everything work's fine. I saw the menu buttons refresh and they work. I don't know if this is a bug with the MX3000 Editor or Windows Blinds, but they don't like each other. I tried different skins and they all froze the menu, except Windows stock skins.

Well, at least now I can get on with Programming the remote.
