I have downloaded the manuals for various universal remotes yet can find no discussion of their jog/step forward/backward capabilities.
I am interested in the MX-3000 based on the feedback I'm reading but the DVD jog and step functions are important to me and I don't want to have to keep another remote around just for that capability.
Can anyone assuage my concerns?

If the remote for the DVD player has the jog/step forward/backward capabilities then these commands can be learned by the MX-3000.
Also, you might want to try downloading the Editor Software for the MX-3000 and checking in the IR databse for your DVD player. The jog commands may already be in there. If that's the case you wouldn't have to learn them from the original remote. This would also give you a sense of what it's like to program the MX-3000.

Larry,
I have jog/shuttle capability for all four of my DVD players programed into my 3000. It works a little different if your use to the jog/shuttle dial, which I haven't seen on any capable programmable remote. If you need the dial you'll probably have to stick with your manufacturer's dedicated remote to get it. Frankly, I've gotten use to executing those functions from a button instead and no longer miss the dial. The benefits of this remote and the ability to automate your system functionality are well worth giving up the dial.
