The faulty MX-700 arrived and I've taken a picture, looks like one of the IC's has been broken. I can get it fixed no problem but I need to know what IC is used, generic or specialist? I can open my other working MX-700 but rather have someone tell me :-)

Picture here..

Thanks

Looks like an ON Semi conductor 74AC08 in the 14-pin SOIC package (top item on list).

PBZ246 relates to:

P - Assembly location
BZ - Wafer Lot
2 - Year (2002?)
46 - Work week.

Therefore for all normal uses the second line is of no real significance.

It costs a whopping $0.18 and free samples are available from the above link.

It looks like you may have got yourself a bargin (and I missed out on it!).

If you want me to repair it and send it back tested in a year or two let me know... :)

thanks and no I won't accept your offer :-P

It's the four one down?

MC74AC08N Quad 2-Input AND GateActivePDIP-1414646-06Rail500$0.18

We have two MX-500's, one MX-200, one MX-700 and now another MX-700. Shame picked up MX-500 within the last month, as parents could've used this MX-700 then. MX-200 pretty nifty, will eventually use in the Hi-Fi system (CD prev/skip and amp -/+)

No it's not the PDIP package (which is the fifth item down), but any of the SOIC (1st, 4th, 6th, 7th) the only difference is how they're delivered.

If you're looking to get rid of an MX-500 I'd be interested. I'm currently on the look out for either an MX-500 or MX-600 to handle my ever increasing Home Theatre System (Three different DVRs, AMP, 37" LCD, VCR, etc...).

Regards,

PJE
