I am using a MX-850 with a MRF-300 and the expandable antenna. I am having problems with RF interference every where in my house. there are radio towers less than two hundred yards from my back yard, I think that they are causing the problem. Is there any thing that I can do to try to eliminate the RF in my house. I like using the MRF-300 because I have three satillite receivers in my rack that all use the same IR code so I like being able to tell it what emiters to use to keep each one independant.
Thank you for any help

I gave up on URC RF a long time ago.

Short of removing the antenna on the MRF, I'd switch to an addressable Xantech connecting block and use IR.

Did you turn the sensitivity on the antenna down?

Sorry to hear it fish. Many of us have no trouble with URC RF and in fact don't even entertain the idea of switching. Honestly, I'd like to see any RF work well within 200 yards of radio towers, this is a brutal RF area.

Brad,
My suggestion would be, if you haven't already, set the base station to ID 0 and watch the status indicator on the base. Adjust the antenna position and RF gain on the antenna until the status light doesn't flicker. If you can get the base station to see "silence" you should have no problem.

Keep in mind that digital cable boxes, sat receivers, dvd players, and stereo receivers can throw out RF. Make sure you keep the antenna away from these devices. Many times it isn't a problem, but if you have RF problems, this is the first place to look.

Also remember with a piece of cat5 you can move the antenna up to 100 feet from the base.

Yea, I'm sorry too.

Every MRF250/300 I've installed I've had to eat, and replace with Xantech IR system.

The last 300 I installed showed no interference, and worked fine, with the exception of a few dead spots in the room.

Sit on the couch, works great. Stand up and take one step to the left. Nada.

But thats still unaccecptable.

I sure wish URC would develop something with 802.11 with 2 way.

Well, they do have a few new MRFs coming out, no real talk of 802.11 yet, but I'm excited to see the new MRFs. URC has only been moving forward with their new releases.

For what it's worth, the new MRFs will hold the macros, not the remotes. The remote will send a signal to the MRF and it will send out the macro. Where have you tried RF? Big cities, small towns? I have really not had the RF problems everyone is talking about.

The base unit will be a MRF400 and is currently in alpha testing. It will be similar to the RTI RP6

The MRF400 will have Addressable IR outputs, Relays, 232 and sensor capabilities,
Base unit will haold IR codes and be triggered from a button press ont eh remote

I have had issues with the small town and lots of RF interference out of a dozen MRF250/300 installs only a few would work reliably

Others have had 100% success rates
