I have a Panasonic PV-V4622 with an LSSQ0314 remote. This VCR and remote combo are listed in the IR DB. When I set my MX850 for this vcr from the IR DB (IR code 157), the power buttons (off & on) plus the p-on and p-off LCD buttons, do not allow me to power on or off my vcr. This seems like a bug in the IR DB since the IR DB TEST button does work to turn on and off the VCR?

Any one else run into this?
URC are you aware of this?

thanks

Sometimes the database seems pretty specific but not all codes work. That happens to me too. Yesterday a Panasonic with LSSQ0299 did not work with discrete power. My guess is that if you scanned down the list of Panasonic VCRs you would see several with the same device number, being quite similar in function. In practice, some models will respond to discrete power and some won't. I'd guess your VCR is not capable of it. If you want to take extra time to test, jot down each device number you try and test them one at a time to see if a certain one works.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

My problem is not just with the discrete power but with ALL power. All the power codes don't work. I'm forced to learn the power code from my remote to even toggle power. This seems especially wrong since the IR DB test button would toggle the VCR's power.

My guess would be a duration problem. The Panasonic may require a long press to recognise a power signal.

Depending on how you programmed the signal to the button, the transmitted duration might or might not depend on how long you press the button. If the duration doesn't depend on the button press, you may need to reprogram so that it does. If the transmitted duration does depend on the button press, try pressing it longer.

I've tried differed duration button presses and it makes no difference. I still cannot get the IR DB to turn on, turn off or toggle the power.
