In the past using a MX-700, MX-800 and MX-850 I've created activities for 'Movie' and 'Music' from the MAIN page by defining two devices that have only macro buttons inside. The 'Movie' activites buttons usually have the same devices as the MAIN page, but with the stereo (surround sound) system ON.

Now I'm programming with MX-950 and using the WATCH and LISTEN hard buttons, but sill find I'm creating a 'Movie' activity button on the WATCH screen. Should I consider using the LISTEN button instead now even if it has devices like CD player, AM/FM radio and cable TV music channels? In other words, should DVD player and other video sources be available from the LISTEN hard button?

If you anticipate the client watching music or concert DVDs there is some chance that they might only LISTEN instead of watch it.

If the client has digital music on a cable or sat box that they like, they may indeed LISTEN and not need the TV on at all.

HOWEVER, to eliminate redundancy and keep from trying to second guess what the client does, you can just shortcut the macro from the listen side to the watch side or vice versa. Then have a TV POWER button in the LCD for that device so the client can choose to watch the cable music screen or turn it off. Make sense?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Thanks for the thoughts. Yes, it's hard to give the clients good layouts for all activities. I've decided on this one to leave the 'movie' activity under WATCH and not shortcut between any of the LISTEN devices. How do you shortcut in the MX-950 editor? Do you use the IR database and drag drop the codes you need into the device or page?
