I have a remote from a combination VCR/DVD from Samsung and it's not learning at all. Nothing. I replaced the batteries to be safe, no help. It just won't learn, even though it keeps flashing GOOD GOOD. I got the LEARN mode to work with my TIVO remote and my AUDIO remote, but the Samsung is not working at all.

Anybody with any experience on how to get this to work? I'll return the thing it if won't learn.

It is learning, but not properly, perhaps because it requires longer presses or maybe toggle bit codes. Have you tried built in codes? And the various learning methods?

I tried every trick they had in your post, nothing works. There must be something nasty about the Samsung remote. Anybody else have experience with Samsung? I'm running out of options and ideas.

Have you tried all these built-in codes?

Samsung DVD- 056 070 119 137 170
Samsung VCR- 102 104 113 115 112 120 032 040 066 107 109 122 125

Yup! I tried every code and I tried every trick in the link you sent me, every single one! It's been frustrating. I send an e-mail to the support department and I expect a reply sometime soon, I hope. Maybe they will have a trick for me. I'd like to just get it to LEARN, I only need a few of the bottons.

Yeah I know what you mean, MX-500 with Bush Freeview DVB Box, no built in codes work and it won't properly learn. :-(

May sound obvious, but did you erase key programming first, then try to learn?

Thanks for the tip. I tried erasing what was learned in my DVD device and then I tried to make it learn again, no dice. So far, the support group has not replied yet, maybe they are off this week. I'm not going to give up until they tell me it's impossible!

If you have a Pronto remote try downloading the codes onto a Pronto. Then use the Pronto to teach the MX-500 the codes. This trick works for some Pioneer codes that the MX-500 can not learn. Why this is I don't know...but it works for this problem.

If you are going to do the job...why not do it the right way?

I'm afraid I don't own a Pronto remote. Any other ideas out there?

I just ran into the same thing. I bought an MX-500 for my father-in-law. I was there yesterday trying to program it for him. Everything seemed to work fine except the Samsung.

I will watch this thread, hopefully someone out there knows the answer.

I send the support group e-mails and they have not replied. They are pissing me off, to say the least. I'll send them a new e-mail every hour if I have to until they reply. If I get an answer, I'll post it.

I got a reply back, I don't think that I have tried 159, it was not in the list in the manual, so I will try that when I get home tonight.

Try sending an e-mail to '[email protected]' with your model number as they seem to have updated codes that are not in the manual:

*************************************************************

Hello Guy,

Sorry for the delayed response. The latest code we have for the Samsung DVD-V3500 is 159. Other than a set of fresh batteries, which you stated you have already tried, try tapping the button when trying to learn instead of holding it down and lower the lights in the room as much as possible. Also, if you have not done so already make sure the DVD and VCR buttons are programmed to separate device keys on the MX-500. Thank you

Sucess (at least partially) - I was able to get it to learn. The tip of tapping the button worked! I thought I did that before, but I guess not. I was able to get some buttons to work but not all of them, but the main one's I need when I'm watching a DVD and VCR! So I'm now officially down to 1 remote!
