I think he really wanted discretes for the anchor. You know - Anchor up and anchor down. I think your assuming his anchor is a toggle only device.

We probably could help WITH A LTTLE MORE INFO

When it's your first day, it's hard to put down anchor and have it stick.

Hi John, I assume you are related to Jane Roe. Anyway, tell us more. Are you trying to get to Video 1 on your TV consistently, or something like that? Give us brand and model information, and what you have tried so far, and we can be of more help to you.

Yes it's just a senario, I don't have any equipment as yet, I was just thinking how it can be done, if the customer were to switch his video input, and then tried the macros, only to find it doesn't work. The switching of sources would be done through the receiver, and the only input to the TV would be input 1. So as an installer, and programmer, how would I go about creating an anchor in such situation .

Try and spec a TV with "discrete inputs" where you actually have a separate command for each input. The Sony I did for a client today had that, so I could send a Video 1 for DVD watching and Video 6 for cable box input. Discretes allowed me to have a macro that works every time. You will also want to spec units that have discrete on and discrete off whenever possible. You can save hours of programming time with discretes.
