WHEW... What a remote! Although I'm far from a pro installer/programer, but I do love this stuff. I've had it for about 24 hours thus far,,, I'm still learning the Editor, but I've downloaded quite a few templates and am amazed at what you programmer types are doing with it. Getting the remote to operate components, and button designing was easier than I expected, but I can tell I'm going to have to do some reading, reading, and re-reading to figure out Macros and Aliases. I'll figure it out eventually. However, I am here today not to beg, good people. I am here in hopes that a knowledgeable programmer would like to offer some insight regarding the process for adding "Text" to various areas of the background to coincide with other buttons.
For example: I'm in the process of creating a "Clean Screen" page. Yea, I know I can just import someone elses page, but I learn nothing that way. In the "Edit & Labal button" area you can obviously add/remove text to buttons already in the software, but only as far as the justification allows. Also, I would love to be able to figure out how I can add customized text to the background that says something like "Clean now" or something like that or import my own photos, jpg, or gif files as the background. Do I need to format or convert something to an rcc file? I'm not quite there yet. My fellow gurus, I ask for your mercy and understanding as I know some of you get paid very well for your craft. This is going really low, here, but if it helps me get some of your valuable expertise I can forgive myself tomorrow. Would it weigh on your conscience if I told you I was active duty military and just returned from some friggin galexy far, far away?
Sincerely, Vic San Diego, CA

The simplest way would be to open the Image gallery and drag over one of the stock backgrounds to your page. You can then use the text editor to create the text you want on that page. If you have image editing software, then you can create jpgs, gifs or anything you want for custom backgrounds, text and buttons. Going to the Poinsettia Bowl Thursday? Hey dude, Enjoy the game!! Yea Go Navy!! Yea, riiigghhhttt, try Go [away] Navy. I've had it, I'm just tired, man. Listen, thanks for gettin back to me on this. After I posted this thread, I figured out that all I needed to do was highlight the background and add text through the editor. I have Adobe Photoshop 7.0, of course, I'm less up to speed on that program than I am on URC MX3000 Editor Software. I swear, at this point I should just shoot myself. <--- Humor. Oh well, ya want sumfin, ya gotta do whatcha gotta do. As far as creating graphics, that's all good. But once it's completed and ready to use as the all powerful background, how does one import the image through the editor. Haven't figured that out yet. Can I save files as rrc files somewhere? Thanks again Mike! V- On December 20, 2005 at 22:24, Surf Remote said...

NavCop,
In the MX-Editor, create a new button, and then in the right hand column of buttons there is a Frame named "IMAGE", right below that is the "BEFORE/0" and "AFTER/1" frames. Inside the BEFORE frame is 4 buttons horizontally. Click the first one, that is the import button. It will bring up a standard windows Open Dialog, find your image and select it.

Vic, keep at it. This might be tedious but it has gotta be easier than some other things you have done lately. And by the way, I personally want to thank you for doing it.
The other guys who hang out in this forum are way ahead of me with the 3000 (I have done a grand total of one), and their advice is sound. I don't think guilt will work, but you might find gratefulness not only helps us to give advice, but helps us feel good doing so.
Again, thanks for having been there.

Another way to add text to backgrounds is by using floating transparent buttons that aren't programmed with any action they only serve to act as text holders.
Here's how they are created:
1. Add a new button from the PAGE menu. 2. Position the ugly grey button where you want it by clicking on it and dragging it. 3. Label the button with the text and font etc you want. 4. Resize the button by clicking and dragging the borders of the button. 5. Click on the IMAGE BEFORE color bar button. In the new window you can change the color of the button to any windows standard color. However, you will notice a small checkbox under the HUE, SAT and LUM boxes. This checkbox is labeled HIDDEN. If you check it, you create a tranparent button that reveals only the text and can be positioned anywhere you like.
Best Regards,
-Eric

Eric, thanks so much for your input. That was REALLY helpful. I was having to go through the trouble of opening the Image Gallery, and selecting the transparent button option from 'football/icons". I'm not able to resize that button, however. Good info. Thanks again, sir.
