Is it possible to "learn" multicommand macros from another remote with the MX-500?

No. You must have all the individual commands learned (or preprogrammed) to the MX-500 and you can build a macro from there. You can clone all the programing, including macros, from another MX-500, but that's about it. I don't know of any remote offhand that learns macros.
