Hi, I'm trying to program my MX700 and was wondering if there is a way to "move" commands between devices rather than creating shortcuts (copying) to the button? Thanks!

Preprogrammed database commands can only be shortcut. Learned commands can be copy and pasted by using Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V. Mike www.SurfRemoteControl.com

Preprogrammed database commands can only be shortcut. Close.. If the preprogrammed code is on an LCD button, it can be moved to another LCD button within the same device (pages 1-4). pre-programmed codes on Hard butttons cannot be moved nor can you move a pre-programmed code from an LCD button to a hard button.

Well, he said "between devices", so in that case you can't do anything but shortcut.

I would like to be able to choose IR buttons from multiple devices for one device. For example for a Rotel CD player you'll probably choose one of the pre-programmed item section, however you might find one code that isn't in that device in another Rotel item.

I would like to be able to choose IR buttons from multiple devices for one device. You can do that with the MX-900 on up. I've been told there's a memory problem doing that with the 850, 800 or 700 though, so I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon.

I had a problem like that with Samsung DLPs where it seems to take two different models to get all the codes together to work one TV. If I did those regularly I'd probably create two devices and hide one on main page two. It would be nice to combine the two and export it as a learned device, but don't think it could be done. The shortcuts would need to be linked at import time - to what?

I guess if you have another learning remote you could learn those IR codes (from the two devices) into the other then learn back into one device (as long as they're not toggle bit of other funny unlearnable code)
I did this with MX-500, MX-700 and TC-1000. The TC1000 remote had all IR codes for a Technics tape deck, wheras the 700 didn't nor the 500...I needed them for the 500. So I created the device, then learnt onto 500. Different situation but a workaround.
