It seems that every time I plug my MX-950 into the computer, it forgets to old partnership and tries to set up a new connection with activesync. Is there a trick to setting up the activesync and remote so that the partnership is not "forgotten"? Or do I just need to sign in a a guest everytime I connect the remote?

Thanks

Jeff

Dude, I had this problem when I got my first batch of 950s. Check this Thread that I started for help:

I just received my 950 and have not been able to consistently connect the remote to the editor through the activesync program. I have uinstalled the version 3.7 that came with the editor, installed version 4.0, unistalled that, installed 3.8 and have had some success but is still very sporadic.

I have tried plugging the remote in before opening the editor, making sure the remote is "off" before plugging it in then turning it on (this has been the most successful method) and I do it while it is on the charger.

Does anyone else have something more definite in making this work with activesync?

Thanks,
Eric

I've had no trouble communicating with the remote, but about 3/4 of the time when I shut down MX-950 Editor after downloading a config there again will be the "pick the software" screen behind everything.

Daniel,

What version of activesync are you using?

Thanks,
Eric

Turns out it's 3.8.0.

Daniel,

Thanks for the response. I've just about tried everything. Just unistalled and installed the editor and tried all three versions of activesync, got it to sync once out of what seems like 200 times i've tried. Very frustrating to say the least for such an expensive remote.

Anyone with any other suggestions/ideas?

Thanks,
Eric

I'm curious as to what you mean by "get it to sync". As far as I'm aware, and at least according to the programming guide, the MX-950 just basically piggybacks onto ActiveSync as a simple connection platform, there's no automatic sync capabilities.

Once the remote has been connected and recognized, you need to use the editor to "download" the open file. Beyond setting up the initial "guest" account, you shouldn't ever have to touch ActiveSync.

I get a USB Device Not Recognized when I plug in the cable. I might have stated it wrong by saying it's not syncing with the editor. When I can get the device to be recognized it will sync with no problems.

Are you going through a hub? What chipset does your computer use?

Daniel,

First, thanks for your help.

No hub and I'm using a Compaq laptop with a celeron M 330. i've been able to get it to connect pretty regular in the past hour but I have not unplugged it from my laptop. I've been testing some of my files and this is the most i've been able to download changes to the 950.

Hmm, odd, I would expect a setup like that to work without issue.

Tried it on my neighbors computer and the remote is recognized every time, only problem is he has to go through the activesync setup each time.
