Hello there. I posted a month or so ago about problems with the MX-950 editor crashing uncontrollably. Since then, there was an update that solved my problem, and all has been well. I bought the remote, and have been very very happy with it. I bought a new piece of equipment, and for the first time in awhile I fired up the editor. First things first, I went to live update, as it had been awhile.... and I get this message:

[Link: mail.urcmx.com]

When I click the OK button, I get this:

[Link: 160.79.37.254]

Needless to say I am perplexed. I have re-loaded the software, and restarted my computer. Nothing seems to work.

I am on Editor Version 1.10.055
Firmware 1.32
IR DB 1.72

Dell WinXP pro box, all updates SP2, etc. 2 gig ram Dual Core P4 3.4

I have owned an MX-500, an MX-700 and now a 950. I have never had a problem except with the 950.

Please let me know if you need any more information.

I would appreciate any and all help you have to offer -- I am anxious to get this right. I was able to program the remote, and am now current, but I like to keep my software as updated as I can.

Hi Blake,

I'll get the engineers to look at this tomorrow morning, however, since I have not heard of this issue, I'd suggest that you try uninstalling and reinstalling from a fresh complete download from our website.

The new MX-950 Live Update gives you powerful new features for exporting and importing devices, many new IR codes in the database so is worth getting!

Best Regards,

-Eric

Thanks for the tips -- I have done exactly what you said (uninstalled from add/remove programs, downloaded newest version, re-installed)
and the same thing happened.

Thanks again,

Blake

I'd hate to over-simplify this but here goes...

If I unplug my LAN cable and try to do a live update I get the exact message as described above. It appears the editor may not be seeing an Internet connection when it is trying to update. If you're on dial-up make sure the connection is established before you click update. If on broadband, try going to a website just before updating to make sure there is an active connection.

I just plugged my LAN cable back in and it is updating as it should.
