I am having some small issues with my X10 macros for scene selection on my MX-850. I thought I know what I'm doing, but maybe I'm missing something here? I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me out.

I have 2 PCS X10 SceneMaster (600W) smart switches installed in my HT room along with the IR543. One switch controls my side sconces and the other the front lights on the screen wall. I have the MRF-250 and I'm using the flasher for the IR543 to make sure it gets it's commands.

I used the Maxi controller to create my 2 different scenes (trying out some basic stuff at first). They work fine when using the 1 ON or 2 ON commands from the Maxi controller. They also work fine from the MX-850 when I'm using the X10 page and press 1 ON or 2 ON.

They don't work right when I create a macro for them. When I launch the macro it dims the one set of lights but it will not do anything to the other set.

My current scene macros are as follows:

Button Name: SCN1
Step 1. Function: 1 Device: X10
Step 2. Function: ON Device: X10
Step 3. Function: GOTO PAGE Device: MAIN - P1
(this one dims side sconces to low level and turns off the front stage lights)

Button Name: SCN2
Step 1. Function: 2 Device: X10
Step 2. Function: ON Device: X10
Step 3. Function: GOTO PAGE Device: MAIN - P1
(this one brings both circuits back to full light)

I have tried putting in delays in between with no luck. What I'm not getting is that I can make the scene work just fine if I manually press the 1 then ON or the 2 then ON in the MX-850's X10 page. What am I missing here?

This isn't allowing me to create the Play/all lights dim, Pause/all lights on macros...and this is why I bought the MX-850 :).

Thanks in advance!

First, test your macros using IR only, directly from the MX-850. Unplug the MRF for this testing.

Add 0.5 sec - 1 sec delays between each step, but not as the first step or last step. If that doesn't work, create your macros and save one step at a time, to see where it may be going wrong. For example, create a macro with one step...then add a delay and the second step and so on.

Let me know if this works for you.

Thank you,
Damon DG

I tried your tips and still having issues. It seems to work once in a while. I have tried adding the different delays with no luck.

I am using the X10 (2) IR at code 183. It's the only code the IR543 is responding too. This is the only thing missing in my HT setup...it's driving me mad!! :)

I would next reorder your commands. Put a command between your X10 commands as well. Sometimes lighting does best when it is last in the sequence.
Manuals?! We don't need no stinking manuals! a.. er..

After careful step by step troubleshooting I have noticed something that could be causing the macros not to work right for me.

When I send a 1 ON or 2 ON command to the X10 using the IR543 the PCS leds blink from red to green one time to acknowledge the signal got to them.

When I send the same commands using my MX-850 I noticed that every once in a while the leds on the PCS blink twice or three times (flicker) from red to green.

To me this means that the MX-850 is sending the IR signal more than one time possibly confusing the IR543? This is the only abnormal thing I can come up with at this time. I am using the supplied X10 set #2 IR database codes to control this IR543.

I have tried this with the RF only and IR only (skipping the MRF-250). I can't seem to get a consistant single led blink when issueing the 1 ON or 2 ON commands from the MX-850.
