Okay projector / remote gurus...

How do I use a univeral remote (going with MX-3000 w/ RF) to turn the projector on/off in the middle of a macro command? Do I extend the IR back to the projector (about a 30' run total), purchase a repeater that fires at the projector, RS-232 port, or have the owner issue a seperate power on command to the projector. Screenplay 5000 w Denon AVR-3806 receiver.

Thanks!

I would extend the emitter wire, Use cat5, 16/2 ,or whatever you have available. 30' isn't that far.
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

Thanks, that was what I was kinda thinking. I'm also a sound (PA) guy so doing a 1/8" mini extension is nothing.

BTW, I thought I would get an e-mail when someone replied?

Kevin,

Depends on how long the run is from the projector (30 to 50 feet?), somethimes it is a pain to hard wire it. I have used Xantech's gear to control equipment in a seperate room and place a MRF-250 on top of the projector, the projector is controlled by the wired port of the MRF-250 and the MRF-250 also blast the IR transmission to the Xantech receiver.

the signal path is this:

MX-3000 (using RF only) to MRF-250,
MRF-250 controls the projector via one of the back ports
MRF-250 blast IR to your other equipment (there are multiple choices here to other solutions)

Hope this helps
Ed

Most projectors can receive IR, which is reflected directly off the screen. This is fairly safe for most projectors that are relatively close to the screen, but for your application, I would extend an emitter from the MRF or IR repeater to the projector using Cat 5.

Thank you,
Damon DG

Use a broom stick with some gum on the end of it, works like a charm:)
