Folks

I have 1 remote for Dish 811 receiver and 2 other remotes for my dual tuner receiver. I have programmed my MX800 remote for both Dish811 receiver and Dish Dual Tuner DVR. For getting the IR codes from Dish HD receiver, I had to follow the intruction on getting the echoed IR signal in DIagnostic Mode from HD 811.

Problem Iam having now is that the Guide/Channel navigation interferes with the DVR. If I press guide in my Mx800 for HDSAT, it activates guide in my DVR. With the Dish remote I managed to get by that problem by changing the remote address. How do I do this in MX800?

Please help
Vinny

You do not change the echoed commands in the mx-800, you change the 811 receiver to the new address, and once again have those commands echoed to mx-800.

Hi

The link tells you how to learn IR codes for Dish 811. My problem is different here. I already have the codes to operate Dish 811 and DVR. The issue I am having is that the DISH 811 common keys such as guide and channel numbers seem to affect the DVR also.

Within the dish DVR settings, I changed the remote address for Dish DVRso that the dish DVR remote does not affect DISH811 receiver. I operate DVR using dish provided remote in the bedroom.

For Dish811 in the media room, I use MX800. I do not know how to set the remote address for Dish811 so that it does not affect DVR. Currently if I change guide by using my MX800 with SAT 122 IR code, it also turns guide on for DVR. Please advice.

Vinny,

Are you using MRFs? Are all the sat boxes together?

Thank you,

The link gives you instructions how to change the remote ID to #1, you use the same directions to move off of ID #1, but instead pick ID # from 2-16. Once the 811 receiver is changed, you use the echo feature so the mx800 can now learn the commands for the new ID #.

You can't modify the commands previously learned, you need to reteach.

Thanks Folks,

I will try it tonite. My setup is kinda complex. My main media room is downstairs and I have all the Home Theater Components down there. This includes HDTV, Dish811, DISH dual tuner DVR etc. I ran the cable from DVR to main bedroom and use Dish DVR remote to control channels in the bedroom. I also took the output from the DISH to one of the input in the media room TV. This way I could also see the recorded programs from DVR on my HDTV. But I control all the components in the media room using my MX800/RF200 combo.

I did turn the blaster off.

Damon was asking if you had the components together because you could use the addressable feature of the MRF-200, with this feature you could control components with exactly the same IR code, like two sony tv's, independently.

Edmund,

Sorry I missed the Question. Yes All the components are together in one place and connected to MRF200. Currently, my DVR Flasher is Line 3 and DIsh 811 is Line 2 and I only have one RF Receiver.

You metioned I could cotrol components with same IR code independantly. COuld you elaborate on this?

Thanks

On the mx-800, make both Dish devices RF only, assign each a different basestation address, then tape the emtter to dish receivers, so the only commands they getting are whats coming from emitter cable.

I set Individual components to RF only. But how do you set the MAIN page? I have punch through for Volume to go to Onkyo receiver and channel to go to Dish811 on the MAIN page. Currently MAIN is set to IR and RF and assigned to all flashers. So if I hit channels on the MAIN page, it is affecting DVR also.

Please clarify.

Also the response on RF only mode is very unpredictable. It only worked after I turned on the IR blaster. Why is that? Am I doing something wrong?

Set MAIN to RF only. You need to experiment with positioning of the flashers to get the best results before affixing them. Typically, you want to either use the front blaster by itself or disable it if you're using the flashers. Look at the troubleshooting steps here: [Link: remotecentral.com]
